Guess which city has been voted the cleanest in India for 6th time in a row

Innovative waste segregation strategies and an army of 8000 plus Safai Mitras(Sanitary Workers) has earned the City of Indore the tag of cleanest city for 6th time in a row

The daily processing of 1,900 tonnes of municipal trash, not only generates millions of rupees in revenue but also supplies fuel for its buses in the form of Bio-CNG which is again cheaper compared to commercial CNG. On Saturday, the findings of the annual cleanliness survey conducted by the Union government were released. The cleanest cities were found to be Indore followed by Surat, and Navi Mumbai.

What gives City of Indore the edge is the innovative strategy of waste segregation into six categories unlike other cities where it is segregated into only wet and dry wastes. The City Municipal Corporation has employed hundreds of waste collection vehicles which help in this waste segregation at the collection stage itself.
