Sheldon Cooper doesn’t know it all

Sheldon Cooper, the fictional character from the popular television sitcom The Big Bang Theory, happens to be one of the most quirkiest and adorable characters in the history of television. Though his eccentric personality earned a lot of fans, the other characters in the show find him extremely exasperating due to his lack of social skills and emotional intelligence, and also due to his uncontrollable habit of correcting people while showing off his knowledge.

This character happens to be a highly intelligent person possessing an eidetic memory with literally having knowledge or at least an opinion on every topic. One of the traits of this character is the immaculate usage of English idioms in almost every episode with a twist of humor in them.

Even though Sheldon utilizes his fondness for English idioms quite often in the show, there are moments when we can observe that there are certain idioms that he is not aware of. For example, in the Season 7 Episode 5, when Sheldon & Amy (his girlfriend in the show) are having a date in the Cheesecake Factory Restaurant, Amy brings up the topic of working together in the same university and that would not be a good idea and then she goes on to use the idiom of ‘don’t defecate where you eat’ which means that we are not supposed to have romantic relationships in the workplace, to which Sheldon realizes that he had been taking the meaning of that idiom literally all these years and had never used restrooms in any restaurant all these years. After which he skedaddles to the bathroom, making it look even more hilarious.

Despite all the abnormally high intelligence and unparalleled knowledge of English Language (especially the grammar Nazi bits) there are moments in the show that shows that even Sheldon Cooper doesn’t know it all.
